 When Yuki first told me her parents were planning to take us on a trip to a hot springs, I suggested a trip to the World's Fair instead. I was trying to avoid taking a bath with my father-in-law. To make matters more uneasy, Yuki informed me that, to show respect, I would be expected to wash my father-in-law's back. When I asked her how much of his back I was supposed to scrub, she said, "Down to the crack!" Luckily for me, Otosan is a man's man. He was also not interested in hanging out naked with me, comparing our best features. In a move he claimed was in the interest of romance, he generously rented Yuki and I a private room. Now you know why I'm smiling so much in this picture. I am holding a traditional plank used to stir the water, evening out the temperature. It was fun to use, but not nearly as effective as stomping and splashing around. |
